We are a group of organisations and local people who are working together to understand how to remove barriers and create opportunities for people of all ages to reach their full potential in life.  We will listen to people living and working in Telford and Wrekin to understand what challenges they and their communities face, by hearing what matters we can start to make real change in the borough; change that is quick, adaptable and led by the people that it affects.

The outcome of the meeting was, yes people were interested but we needed more time; to extend beyond the submission date, to understand what needed to be included and in what detail

The focus of the event will be to guide businesses/employers to visualise Telford at its Best from a business/employer perspective – this means without any ‘yes but’ or ‘we cannot do this because’. 

We will then guide attendees to identify set 2 or 3 priorities that they are willing to be accountable for, ones that they can then start to work through, understand the aim of, set SMART approaches to and identify who else needs to be on the working groups in order to achieve the priorities – for however long it takes to achieve.  Recognising throughout that the status quo is unlikely to bring about real change. 

Event will be late February/or early March – a morning event in Telford on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.30am-1pm

We have identified a preferred venue 1 and 2 and they are being currently approached 

The invite design, wording is being actioned; one that is as clear as possible on the ‘why businesses/employers should be there’

All of those attending the session offered routes to market the event 

This approach would allow us to test approaches, methods and understand challenges and opportunities to engage with people on unlocking potential within the borough before we engage wider.  The first step however will be to pilot an approach to initial engagement, this will mean bringing together 7-8 people as individuals to plan for, explore and evaluate an unlocking potential activity or proposal which can then be taken in test form to some selected groups already meeting.
