It depicts the scene of Scar, brother of King Mufasa, devising a plot to kill Mufasa and his son, Simba. The music makes use of several bass instruments that shows the character of Scar of his evilness and his jealousy.

Additionally, the quick tempo of the instruments suggests and mirrors the anticipation of his ideas and the heavy-heartedness of the song. Sulphur bursts out from the rocks when he walks slowly across, which is synchronised with the background music accompanied by vocals to reinforce his dramatic actions.

Also, the hyenas march in precision with the music’s tempo and rhythm to show the seriousness and how united they can be (similar to a Nazis’ march).

Next, we will see how the xylophone in the music ‘mickey-mouses’ a hyena knocking the bones on the skeleton, describing the action specifically. Scar also stresses some of the words in his sentences to emphasise his point and it also helps to give a form of rhythm to the song. His speech consists of some sentences being sung out with pitch and other sentences being spoken with normal tone that are mixed together. 

As the hyenas bite and shake the bones vigorously, the music employs the use of the percussion to emphasise the action. While most of the music was exciting and fast-paced, there are also some parts where the music is slow and with few instruments, augmenting the slyness and cunningness of Scar. 

Visually, the colours of the scene also changes from the cool and dark colours to hot and bright colours such as the fire and lava as the intensity of the music increases. The music thus represents the mood and tone of the scene.

The tempo then increases quickly as Scar jumps across the volcano and does his screaming finale. As he rises towards the moon, the pitch also increases in pitch. The music then slows and fade out as the scene zooms out from Scar and ends.
