It was a bit frustrating in the beginning as I was not able to participate fully in the orientation week which started on the 27th August 2017; due to my heavy constraint at work .
However as the week flew by I was able to settle down and develop proper time management for my courses. Which help me realized I had to put in some extra effort for Research Method for Business as the work load was very  demanding.  As I recalled the stern warning I received from past student about the demand for constant commitment in order to have a successful grade in this course. 
Furthermore it was also great seeing a familiar face which is that of my e-tutor  Ms Gladys Leu who was actually one of my first e-tutor in the course Introduction to Sociology when I just started my UWI program.  Also I appreciated the effort made by the Course Coordinator of the daily outline; as these help me to  come up to speed with my classmate
Since then I have completed my introduction and expectation created a timetable which has become a very helpful tool and did my VARK test which indicated that that I have a strong kinesthetic learning preference with my scores being (Visual: 3, Aural: 2, Read/Write: 3, Kinesthetic: 7). I have also created my Pad let which was quite interesting as I never heard of it before and was uncertain as to maneuvering the page.

Finally my Orientation was quite a rewarding experience as eagerly await my learning experience for this course as there is so much new things to learn. While regained my drive and motivation to ensuring that I have a successful semester.

However I also learn that various philosophies are involved in researches which help to serve it owe purpose, base upon the research conducted at the time. As researches are done through and deductive or inductive processes using a qualitative, quantitative or mixed method.

Additionally I have gain an understanding of the importance of theory (building) and ethics when conducting a research as well as ensuring that proper sponsor researcher relationship is maintain as this is of uttermost important as both parties must complete their required responsibilities required.  Also through the improvement in Information Technology it have provided an avenue for improved research through the computers, internet, email, software and social media. However this is a disadvantage to persons who may not have access to available technology.

Finally unit # 1 has helped me be able to understanding the essential principles that will further assist me immensely in grasping the subsequent unit more clearly and easily.

Also the idea of comparing the research process to a road map have made it much easier to understand the unit as I now have a better hypothetical sense of the entire process.  Additional I was able to identify the stages of the research process which include: Problem definition, Research design measurement, Data collection, Data analysis, Results & Finding. While being able to conduct a literature review which served as a guide for this week's graded discussion activity. As I was able to search for a topic of interest and being able to interpret evaluate and analyze the literature given while giving feedback to other classmates post was quite rewarding.

This unit was significant to me as I understood how communication plays an important role in research process. The Research Proposal is a written plan used to communicate the research before it actually begins. It allows the researcher to think critically about the research and clearly communicate the objectives while the Research Report is a written statement used to communicate and management information on what really transpired. While the oral presentation; in my opinion  is most important aspect as it usually comes after the research proposal. It is the medium through which the research findings are presented by the researcher verbally through face to face, verbal and live data. Giving the
 researcher ability to give immediate clarification on unclear sections. Finally this unit will help in assist me with the completion of the Group Project and the Individual Research Proposal activities.

Unit four was a reminder of my Statistics course, which helped me in identifying the different types of research methods which were qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods, variables, measurement and sampling in the unit.
 However what was particularly interesting was the concept map that I had to create for the discussion on sampling. It was interesting working with different program to create the map.  Also preparing the draft research proposal was very challenging as I was unaware of what was to presented on the draft.  I however tried my best to completed the assignment with whatever little knowledge i gained from reading the unit and browsing the internet; as I saw the need for the necessary feedback from Course Coordinator.

As I often have a tendency to disregard the data collection process and not recognize its importance. furthermore I am now able to distinguish between primary and secondary data which is very significant to me.  As stated in the unit, if the data collection process is mediocre then the research will be mediocre therefore, emphasis must be placed on this aspect of the research in order for the research process to be of high-quality and ensuring that the proper field work is conducted with proper management and training.

Also after complaining about the amount areas to be covered in the Research Proposal I realized that it have given me and advantage in the completion of the Research Project. Overall this week has thought me that I need to improve on my time management so I can be more flexible with the demand of my courses.

The concept used was quite fun as I made up my own pizza restaurant and created questions for my sample using the most appropriate sampling method and learning way how to minimize errors in the questionnaire.  Also as I did my responses to my fellow students questionnaire I saw the advantages and disadvantages that existed as this information can be very useful for me when I am preparing my questionnaire for the Research Project.

I was also able to grasp the process of coding data to be understood by computer software, such as SPSS or NVivo which involved looking at the use of a code book. Additionally, the unit focused on the processing of data, data modification and which are both very important steps to ensuring data quality control and true data.  In the latter part of the unit, focus was placed on the means of presenting data and helping visualize the data found so relevant persons may grasp what is presented. Graphical display methods such as tables, bar graphs and charts were explored. I am better equipped to prepare and present data collected in a very effective manner.

However I my wish was not granted and enjoy learning about the non probability method of sampling and how it can be used in a customer satisfaction survey and allow researcher to get meanfull results and findings. I also used the opportunity to be very interactive as it helped me to build my debating skill.

This was the final week for the Research Proposal which gives me a happy sad feeling.  I honestly never thought that I would have enjoyed this course base on the review I got from past student. However their opinion made me pay more attention to this course and I received a liking for Research Method as well I must complement my e-tutor for taking her time to explain the details of the course you did a great job Ms Leu ; I appreciate the fact that you informed me about my missing padlet thank you.  Also I tried the screen o matic for the first time and did a horrible job as I was congested from my sinus for days which had lead me to submitting late.  Overall this course was a learning experience as I learn to manage time and got a new perspective that time is definitely a factor.  As The knowledge gain from Research Method for business would be useful for my other courses and hoping that I have an excellent grade for this course.
