Challenging all school staff to change the way in which they have traditionally worked across all school settings.

I chose this sentence because I feel like we should not have to challenge our teachers to change the way they teach in order to benefit students. I believe that change in a school setting is great for a new start and new point of views of how we as educators should do things in a classroom and out of a classroom. As educators and the education system it is evolving constantly. There are many different techniques to teach students our content and gain a successful rate of understanding. Having a supportive staff that trust one another to take the leap of change to better the school, colleagues, parents and students is a positive effect.
-Kimberly Arvizo

Using school-wide and classroom research-based positive behavioral supports for achieving important social and learning outcomes.

After clicking the link and reading about MTSS and RTL2’s i liked the sentence above as something they had in common. The shift in behavioral methods in 21st century teaching has made a huge impact on students socially and emotionally. This is something that I have seen first hand in both elementary and middle schools from my previous job. Using PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies) helps students think deeper into their actions and why they chose to act a specific way. It helps find the root issue in the problem and addresses it by conversation. This helps achieve a stronger sense of social emotional skills in our students as they are able to reflect within on their decision. Restorative justice is also another example as a change in “discipline in 21st century teaching. These methods in my opinion can be used on all students including students on IEP’s and English learners.
- Melissa Mota

Multi- tiered system of support is so important because it allows opportunities for all students. MTSS also includes Response to Instruction (RtI2). They align with one another because it incorporates the same components such as; supporting high quality standards, culturally and linguistically relevant instruction with the belief that every students can learn including students of poverty, students with disabilities, EL students and students from all ethnics. MTTS not only helps students succeed academically, but it also addresses the needs of ALL students such as social and emotional needs, behavior and absenteeism. This tiered system will help us identify students early and intervene quickly. The main focus is the "Whole child."
-Breanna Cascia

Let’s work together to give children an equal opportunity in all areas. Because of the Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) provides a basis for understanding how educators need to work together. Providing information and guidance to ensure equitable access for a students success. Let’s understand that students all learn differently and some students will need accommodations and modifications in areas like academic, behavioral and social success. MTSS offer fees the potential to create needed systemic change through intonation design and redesign of service ices that quickly identify and match the needs of all students.
