1. Please have smaller meetings with supervisors at each stage just to understand supervisors progress specially the first stage where we have to identify key elements. 
2. Your questions were great & can be converted into a easy checklist to help students with self evaluation for each criteria. 
3. The buddy system is good from the start. 
4. One challenge is that students don't turn up for meeting & this piles on. This can be dealt with seriously to make it mandatory for them to be present for meetings & this can be recorded. 
5. The goal is very important . I have seen a few students set a weak goal and they expect a 7. My suggestion to the students is spend time on the goal setting.
The process is important and it should not be a last minute  report.
Maintaining  a process journal is very important.Students should meet their supervisors regularly.
