Wow, it’s been a very quick first week back to school but lovely to see everyone. Wheelchair dancing returned and we went on a magic carpet ride around the world, everyone has worked hard during physio even after a week off. On Wednesday afternoon Blue class went to soft play focusing on physical and communication targets and on Friday everyone went to the Lightroom for Physibods which help us learn about our body. Friday morning we went on a community walk to the shops to buy class supplies.

Week 2

During week 2 Blue class have continued with their Around the World topic visiting different countries on a Magic carpet for wheelchair dancing. This weeks focus was India so everyone made Mango Lassi (mango yoghurt drink) in sensory cooking and during Sensory Story we visited India exploring different objects that related to India. Blue class took their shopping list to Aldi to buy the ingredients for cooking and enjoyed the fresh air. Everyone has worked on their communication and physical targets whilst visiting the Lightroom and Soft play, we have had some amazing interactions. To finish the week Blue class took part in Physibods, a session that concentrates on body awareness it is becoming one of our favourite session’s.

Week 3

During week 3 everyone has been very busy creating Father’s Day cards for our Dads and special people, creating the cards helped us work on our fine motor and choice making skills. We went for a walk to the Library on Wednesday whilst the sun was shining, everyone enjoys spending time at the library looking at books and being in a different environment. We made biscuits in the shape of people during Sensory Baking and Sensory story was based on India as we are travelling around the world for our topic.

Week 4

Week 4 has been a hot one so Blue class has made the most of it by having lots of water play activities in the afternoon. During art everyone decorated a Scottish flag and bunting for our chosen country to represent in Sports day. As we continue with our topic Around the World this week we visited Africa, everyone experienced the hot weather for sure but we also made Banana smoothies in sensory cooking, took part in African drumming and went on a Magic Carpet ride to Africa for Sensory Story. Everyone has had lots of floor time enjoying choose time and interacting with staff and tried our best to do physio.

Week 5

Blue class had a great start to the week as everyone got to visit a Disco Tent outside where we had a foam party, everyone enjoyed the foam and music. This week for Sensory Story Blue class went around the world and visited Australia exploring different props that represented Australia. On Wednesday we made Anzac Biscuits to tie in with our Australian theme. Drumming was so much fun, creating a beat to the words Summer and Sunshine and making lots of noise. We finished the week of with Physibods, switch work and eye gaze we all worked hard.

Week 6

Week 6 was all about Hawaii as we travel around the world for our Term Topic, Sensory Story was about visiting Hawaii and exploring different objects and sounds that linked to the country. Wheelchair Dancing had us travelling to different countries and as the weeks have gone by the children are finding preferred objects or songs. Art was focused on exploration first then creating the final piece, water colour paints where used and water bags to create flowers. We all went on a walk to Aldi to top up on drinks to keep us cool as the weather is getting warmer, it was great to see happy faces being outdoors. We done different activities using messy play, dough disco had us focusing on our fine motor skills and gloop got us super messy. In between all our exciting activities we have had lots of floor time for interactions and working on physio targets. Friday was all about having fun and keeping cool, everyone enjoyed Physibods which promotes body awareness.

Wow it’s Blue class’s final week of the school year, how has that happened. So far Blue class have enjoyed a summer themed drumming session and listening to a variety of musical instruments, Sensory story Hawaii themed and went for a walk to Aldi to buy Sensory cooking ingredients.
