Parents split up. This was a tough time for us. I was too little to understand. But now looking back I realize it was for the best for me my mom and sister.

I was 13, My father had been in and out of my life causing a tremendous number of issues for me mentally. This was the start of a long drug addiction battle for me.

In June of 2004 I was put into Kids Peace for self-mutilation & drug addiction I was there for a month and a half.

I had been released from Kids Peace and put into outpatient therapy. It didn't help much THIS is where many more issues for me arise from.

We had moved. School was becoming an issue for me; I was getting involved in the wrong crowds. Drug addiction was getting worse. At this point, my mom had no idea about it. But she knew I needed to get away.

I had a boyfriend who was MUCH older than me. I was 14, he was 17. I met him when he was home on a day pass from placement. I would leave school early and hang out with him, I ended up getting suspended. This was when my mom started to catch on that I was AGAIN finding the wrong crowds, almost as if when we moved, I went searching for it again.

I was back into therapy and then needed to be put on house arrest due to how much school I had missed at that point as well as getting into trouble with friends.

2006

In October of 2006, my friends and I wanted to go to a party that was a few towns away. We didn't have a way there. I ended up stealing my mom's car. At almost 15, I obviously didn't have my license yet and knew nothing about driving. I ended up crashing the car. My "friends" took off and left me there alone. Scared, I called my mom. Who then in turn told me to leave and come home.

Due to me leaving the accident. This caused more issues for me. Because I already had a bad record, I was put on house arrest waiting for a space to open for me to be put in a placement facility. I had been charged with auto theft, driving without a license and a few other things that I cannot remember.

I was put into the placement facility to start my almost 2-year sentence. I was put in an all-girls facility called Clear Vision Intervention Center.

I was released from placement. When I was released, I was on house arrest as a " just in case" to ease back into the community. I was a completely different person than when I went in there. At this point I was a year and some change sober. I was not allowed to talk to my old friends, and I had a probation officer who kept tabs on me to make sure I was not getting into trouble again.

This year went well. I was staying on the right track, started going to school when I needed to. And my relationships with my family was better.

I started dating Tim. Granted, I had met Tim in a placement facility I was in BEFORE I went to clear vision. Was this a bad idea? Probably... But in my mind, I was better, so he had to be too, right?

I Packed up what I could and left Tim, He had been abusive for too long to me, but it then started where he was abusive with the kids.

I moved in with my grandmother, got my first job (I was not allowed to have a job before or have my own money) I felt like I was free more than I had been before!

I started thinking about what I wanted to do with my life. Now that I was "free" I had so many options of what I wanted to do, Who I wanted to be! I chose school!

I enrolled in Bryant & Stratton university for Criminal Justice in hopes to be a Juvenile Probation officer. Looking back at my childhood, I realized that although at the time, I wasn't a fan of my probation officer. But had it not been for him, I probably wouldn't have turned out to be the person I ended up being. He had faith I could change, I could do better, and I wanted to be that for a kid as well.

My youngest (Kimber) Started in kindergarten. I thought for a while about changing my course, my major. My baby starting kindergarten was a big deal for me. I knew I wanted to work with kids but something about my daughter being in kindergarten gave me a change of heart. I thought long and hard about being something other than a JPO.

October 2021- The Path Change!

I had talked to a friend of mine about LCCC and how much more she liked it. At the time I was still enrolled in BSU. But, next semester was coming fast for both of us. I knew I needed to make a change. I ended up coming to LCCC and switching my major to Early Childhood Education!

Daycare!!! I started working at early explorers! (My daughters originally went there for daycare, but the more I talked to the staff, the more comfortable I felt there and thought it would be a good move!

I currently work in Early Explorers childcare center. I work 40 hours a week in the mornings I work with infants, toddlers and preschoolers. In the afternoon I work with school age children and I absolutely love it!
