My name is Gaia Sovilla, and I recently graduated with First Class Honours in Gender, Sexuality and Culture from University College Dublin (UCD). Before my Master’s, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication in Italy. I have academic and research experience in themes of EDI, inequalities, transgender studies, marketing, media studies and graphic design.

I currently work in the non-profit sector in Italy as a Representative for the Promotion of Volunteering and Content Creator. My role involves developing and managing projects that aim to raise awareness about the values of volunteering, promote EU opportunities connected to youth and volunteering, and to engage people of all ages in civic and community life.

Moreover, I am in charge of the brand identity of the association, creating graphics for social media posts and for our website and institutional presentations.

Apart from this, I am a freelance graphic designer and content creator. I have collaborated with different realities connected to the field of football, focusing on creating strong and innovative brand identities and coherent content for different media channels.

In addition, I collaborate with the local Anti-Violence Centre, which supports women experiencing violence and works to combat gender-based violence.

My academic and professional journey reflects a strong commitment to communication, inclusion, and education—core values that guide all my work.

This portfolio includes a selection of projects I have developed during my studies and professional experience, ranging from board games and social media content to educational presentations and awareness campaigns.

This presentation is a part of one of these projects and is though for 17-19 years old students.

In the presentation I mainly focus on some pieces of media and how they challenge feminism.

My focus on the project was on the app Bumble and how it is presented and thought as a progressive and feminist dating app.
