How did the video you watched define reflection? Do you agree or disagree with this definition? Why?
Mention one (1) life situation in which you used reflection and how it helped or influenced that situation and whether and why the outcome could have been different if you had thought about the reflection in the way it is presented in your video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1bgdwC_m-Y
The video I watched was The Value of Self-Reflection. During the talk, the speaker defined self-reflection as glancing at yourself in the mirror and also taking a step back and actually looking at yourself, not physically but mentally. I agree with his definition because I personally struggle with the way I perceive myself. I would prefer not to say the specific situation, but I do a lot of self-reflection and am working hard to turn it from this negative self-hatred reflection and make it more positive. I want to be able to reflect on the good things about myself and my self worth.

(106) The Art of Reflection - YouTube

The video defines reflection as when one looks at their actions and seriously thinks about them. I agree with this definition to a certain degree but not entirely because it is too general. One situation where I use reflection is when I play basketball. Reflecting on myself helps me improve my skills and keeps me from staying complacent. If I followed the video's way of reflecting, I wouldn't be too sure that I would be motivated to improve myself.

Ethan Sagman - The Metacognition Video

The video I watched defined reflection based on awareness while completing tasks and on thinking about how you can improve on those tasks with that awareness. I agree with this definition. Whenever I used to study, I did not watch video lectures, which made me not do well. I thought that I should do it as part of studying for exams because I knew that I felt like I needed to while studying. After doing that, I understood the content better, and my scores were better. So, I thought about my task and looked back on and reflected upon my task when I finished to figure out how I can improve which is similar to the definition of the video. If I was aware of metacognition, I might have been able to realize what I needed to do earlier than I did.

I watch The Value of Self-Reflection video. The video defines reflection as humans' capacity to exercise introspection and the willingness to learn about their fundamental nature, purpose, and essence. I do agree with this definition because people learn more from their own experiences at their speed and level. In one situation is that I almost got into a car accident when I first started out driving I reflected on watching others that are around me and how scared I was at that moment so I do not get into another car accident. The definition of reflection in this video is somewhat what I felt however since I had just started driving I don’t think I could have used reflection at that moment to change the outcome.

The video defined reflection as looking in the mirror and thinking about what you see or looking at your actions and seriously considering those actions. I agree with this definition because when I reflect about myself personally this is exactly what I do. However, for every other form of reflection I disagree. This definition does not quite match because when reflecting on yourself you will know every little detail about yourself and your actions while reflecting on an outside source you might not have those exact details which are needed to make that specific reflection. I think there are many different ways to reflect that do not fit into one definition. Recently I had a falling out with multiple people in my friend group after finding out they had been lying to us. Instead of taking time to reflect myself and others reacted based on our heat of the moment emotions which caused the situation to blow up more than it should have. After a day I did take the time to reflect and determined that although our initial feelings were valid it would have been more effective to wait for everyone to calm down, because in the end the situation was just a huge miscommunication. In this situation earlier reflection would have resulted in a faster and nicer end to our friend group problem. If I had used the model in this video effectively the conclusion and action planning stages would have resulted in a better understanding of everyone's thoughts and an easier solution to the problem.

The video defined self-reflection as, “The capacity of humans to exercise introspection and the willingness to learn about their fundamental nature, purpose and essence”. I agree with this definition of self-reflection because I believe people need to be able to understand what's happening around them and in their lives in order to reflect upon themselves. If you’re not willing to learn from your past actions then you will never be able to grow as a person and reflect on those actions. Not only can you learn from yourself, but you can also learn from others around you and take their actions into account when looking at yourself. Many different times in my life I’ve been able to self-reflect on my past actions and my actions in the moment. For example, when I’ve been in an argument with my brother and said hurtful things, I don’t take the time to think about what I am saying in the moment, but after the fact I am able to see how what I said could be taken hurtfully and that I should apologize.
