There are a lot of example of responsible tourism in Brighton one is including The Grand hotel, The grand hotel do many of things such as helping with sustainability, maintaining an expectation of the standard of working in the particular environment.

The way they improved the sustainability in the hotel is by doing little changes to the everyday uses to make a big difference with helping the community and the world. When cleaning the rooms they use a water mist that is developed into a harmless chemical that cleans the rooms to the highest standard. The bottle is in a mist bottle to ensure that all parts of the room indcluding the sofas, curtains and surfaces are as clean as can be. The chemical called Chlorine and chloramine is proven to kill most of the Bactria and germs of COVID 19 as well.
The blankets in the rooms are made out of recycled bottles as well as their balcony furniture is made out of recycled ice cream boxes. And using bottled water and not plastic ones.

The grand hotel supports small business in the community such as getting all their produce from local food sources. This helps the small business as well as grow but have a loyal customer that buys from them regularly. They raise money for a charity called rocking horse children's charity and afford equipment for the organisation that cares for sick children who are in Brighton hospital. The grand hotel team organises an event every year to save up for this charity. Last year they funded £16,000 to the children's charity. Another organisation they promote and fundraiser for is a charity called Together Co whcih is a charity that supports adults mental health. The company do a charity event annually and add discretionary charitable donation of £2 to every room booked at the hotel to support local causes.

Responsible & irresponsible tourism practices for Brighton

Brighton has many examples of responsible tourism that make this city so unique. The lanes is a good example of Brighton supporting small businesses. In the lanes you will find many different shops such as a coffee shops, record shop, charity shops and many more. Brighton is very famous for the lanes and how different it is. So many people travel far to come and visit, take photos and shop there. Another responsible factor that brighton promotes is to become carbon neutral through sustainable travel. VisitBrighton which is the council's tourist arm, promotes the city as compact and walkable, and encourages visitors to arrive car-free and explore by bus or bike. The council has pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

Brighton has alot of reasons why they encourage responsible tourism but they also have alot of negetives which makes it irresponsible. For example; Having a beach is what brighton is very famous on. But in the summertime the beach can become very overcrowded which can create a large amount of waste left on the beach that is recycled or binned. This can cause a result of the litter being carried into the sea or even harming wildlife as they are eating it. Another reason why Brighton is irresponsible with their tourism practises is the increase in Airbnb properties being rented out and listed for tourists. Which is reducing the availability of housing for residents and increasing the amount of people become homeless.

what i would recommend for Brighton

To make Brighton more sustainable and limit the number of negative affects on the beautiful city, more information about what citizens and tourists can do to assist curb littering should be provided. This can be done by either educating students more about what will happen if this is not prevented, as they are the generation that will be faced with consequences if nothing is done, or by enacting laws. For example, you could be punished if you fail to pick up your litter and dispose of it properly. Personally, I think we should also supply more litter bins across the city, particularly near the beach, to ensure that it is minimised as much as possible.

In addition, I believe Brighton ought to try to reduce its carbon footprint. Brighton & Hove City Council's (BHCC) carbon neutral target calls for the city's greenhouse gas emissions to decrease by 12.7% per year beginning in 2020. Which is influencing the current climate change that our world is experiencing. This allows individuals to go by bike, walking, or even scooter rather than driving. Buses have been shown to be more environmentally friendly, but their popularity has increased the number of buses on the road each day. They are also beginning to supply environmentally efficient buses, which will greatly assist Brighton.

responsible and irresponsible practises in bath

An example of a responsible practise in the City of Bath is the use of E-Scooters. They are a fun and environmentally friendly way to explore Bath. They're easy to find, quick to use using Voi's app, and a lot of fun, covering over four square miles of the city. Watch out for their coral red e-scooters and parking stands all over town. You can get one at Bath Spa railway station, for example, which is only one of over 25 Parking Zones in the city, all of which are clearly marked on Voi's app, so you're surrounded with choice. This helps with using less petrol and reduce filling the air with car pollution. They are encouraging this so in years to come people wont be relying on cars. Park and ride are also a popular way to travel in Bath. You are able to walk or drive a short distance to the nearest one to then get a bus into where you need to. They are also cheaper to travel with as you can use it all day when out and about.

On the other hand Bath also have examples of irresponsible practices. This are example such as, Overcrowding. This is beginning to be a problem as Bath is a very popular destination to go to university. This is resulting in less accommodation as well as effecting the Eco system with things such as littering. Because there is more accommodation going to students, homelessness is on the rise.

Responsible and Irresponsible tourism in the Maldives

To increase the sustainability factor of tourism in the Maldives, locals have organised different educational classes to ensure that everyone who visits the island and locals know how to look after the environment in the Maldives. These classes include learning about conducting regular beach and reef clean-ups on local islands, developing renewable energy sources, educating locals on practising responsible fishing, and much more. By having tourists educated, they can maintain the environment and the community by having an impact. Often, people travel to the Maldives to volunteer to help clear the beach of rubbish or look after different animals and their habitats. They depend on tourists to keep their islands going. Marine conservation protect the important habitats of the marine, by doing this the locals as well as tourists do activities to improve the health of the environment. By studying marine biology they can find out what other species are out there to do research on. It provides the locals jobs as well.

The malvides is an island which makes it very difficult ot get shipped over food. This means when travelling their you are eating fish that the local people of the island have gone out and fished. This is an example of an irresponsible practise in the Maldives. It is causing distription of the habitats in the sea, coral is being damaged and overfished which has lead to damage and erosion

To reduce the negative affects and optimise the positive impacts, I believe the City of Bath should consider providing more e-scooters throughout the city and expanding it to Bristol as well. They are, in my opinion, a really effective approach to limit the quantity of pollution produced. They could also think about putting bikes around. I also believe in selling more local cuisine, such as various stools, as well as other items such as clothing. This would enhance the community's sustainability and recycling. They haven't done it as much since COVID. This example would be beneficial to Bath.
