The thought of going into high school scared me. I felt as if I was a child in a candy shop, not knowing what to get. I was inexperienced, and was confused on where to go, and do. That's when I realized I had to face my fear and continue into high school.

Call to adventure explains my experience of going into high school, because I left middle school with a fixed mind set of high school having the stereotype of being hard. So, when the time came to enter high school I had to face my fear, and have my own experience of seeing if it really was hard.

When the time came for tests, projects, and even arguments with friends, I knew I would have trouble dealing with them. Little things like these, are roads that you have to cross in order to get to the other side of them. And once you have crossed, you realize all the hard work, has paid off.

These are examples of threshold guardians, because they are problems that you have to face in order to continue your journey. For me, that would be high school, and the tests, projects, and friends that lay between it. Crossing the threshold guardians may be tough, but the outcome, and what grade you can get from studying for a test is worth it.

There is that one week that everybody dreads. Finals week. That is the week that you have to gather up all of your knowledge that you have learned from the semester and somehow apply it to the finals. This is the week that everybody is stressed out, abnormally tired, and eats more than normal. Once you have gone through that seemingly terrible experience, you realize it wasn't all that bad, and you are glad you studied and experienced it.

Finals week relates to an abyss because it is like a tragic time that people have to go through and prepare for. After the abyss, people or heroes usually come out stronger and smarter from that experience.

Before the start of the second semester, I looked back on my experience of the previous semester. I learned from my experience that entering high school was a challenge, and was hard to understand, and follow. But as I went through my semester I already noted things I wanted and should have done differently. That's why this semester I am coming back with more confidence and I will be more ready than I was the first time entering high school. By doing this it will prepare me for harder challenges that I will already have knowledge for what I'm doing.

Looking back on my experience of the first semester relates to the return because it shows what I have learned from my experiences, just like the heroes, and what I need to improve on to make myself a better student,and as for the hero, a better hero.

In Catching Fire, Katniss Everdeen returns home from being in the game arena. She sees her distrcict and what trouble it is in. She realizes what she had done in the game to cause this and tries to find a way to resolve the destruction within her society.

In the first Hunger Games, Katniss makes a strong relationship with a little girl named Rue in the games. They build an alliance, and help each other throughout the game. Then Rue has been shot with an arrow, and is dying. This is a moment where Katniss experiences something terrible but gains a lot from it. This is the abyss because she is losing somebody dear to her, and thinks of rue as her sister.

Katniss' little sister, Prim, was chosen for the games, and that was the last person she wanted to have chosen. So she took the opportunity to save her sister by volunteering herself. By doing this Katniss was off onto an adventure she had no idea what to expect out of it. She was intimidated by the other tributes, and wasn't accepting of peoples help. But the sooner the games came, the more she realized she had to do whatever she had to do to win the games.

When Katniss goes in for training she is faced with weapons and other tributes who are training to kill. She is definitely afraid at first, and doesn't use much of her time to create an alliance. She realizes that in order to proceed to the games, and to win, she will have to train and associate with other tributes in order to get ready for the games
