Throughout my journey, I’ve completed all required placements, including an enriching experience at Vanastra Daycare in Clinton, Ontario. These opportunities allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, build meaningful relationships with children and families, and further develop my skills in observation, planning, communication, and collaboration with educators.

Reflection.

Through this portfolio, each of the artifacts demonstrates my continued development and increasing proficiency in early childhood development, pedagogy, and advocacy. The Op Ed Assignment demonstrates my capacity to communicate complex ideas to a lay public in clarity and purpose, and assignments such as Secure Attachment, Temperament, and Nature vs. Nurture demonstrate my application of developmental theory in responsive care and inclusive practice. The Infographic illustrates my ability to turn information into interactive and accessible format, and the Rights of Children presentation illustrates my appreciation for ethical practice and children's advocacy. The collection of artifacts I’ve included, spanning personal reflections, developmental theory, family engagement, cultural awareness, and community collaboration, represent a cohesive body of work that highlights my growth and learning across the Early Childhood Education program. The purpose of these artifacts is to demonstrate my ability to think critically, apply developmental theory to practice, and communicate professionally while centering responsive relationships and inclusive pedagogy. This collection of work is aligned with the outcome of "Demonstrating professional knowledge and practice that promotes holistic development and learning in early childhood settings." The artifacts were picked because they map to the outcome of demonstrating whole-child safe and inclusive practice based on high-quality care and learning. The Feeling Buddies reflection illustrates my skill in promoting emotional regulation and social development through responsive strategies. Collectively, these pieces of evidence show my growth as a reflective practitioner and creative teacher with the capability to take theory and apply it into effective, practical, and inclusive classroom practices. Class Reflection #3 shows my developing pedagogical position and dedication to ongoing improvement, and Assignment #2 shows my capacity to create developmentally suitable, inclusive learning activities. Reflection #1 – SEL Resource and Reflection #2 – KHST are both reflective of my knowledge of social-emotional learning, trauma-informed care, and creating emotionally safe learning environments. The Resource Project shows my ability to create usable, research-based resources for both child development and teachers. These pieces combined reflect my ability to think critically, reflect deliberately, and transfer my knowledge to create nurturing, interactive learning spaces.
