         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Marine Corps can trace its roots to the Continental Marines of the American Revolution whose conception was the 10th of November 1775, where in Philadelphia during the Second Continental Congress a resolution was created for the raising of two battalions of Marines. This was a branch of Infantry capable of fighting on land and at Sea. The continental Marines were disbanded following the conclusion of the American revolution. The Marines would not be "resurrected" until 11 July 1798 in the build up to the Quasi-War with France creating the institution of The United States Marine Corps. An important event/piece of Marine Corps Lore comes during the First Barbary in which the Marines aided in an attempt to capture Tripoli, this event is immortalized in the opening of the Marines Hymn with the line "From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli".
