*Served as the minister of defense during most of the 1960s.
*Huey was poor throughout his childhood and faced discrimination but even with being poor he said he never went hungry. He attended Oakland public school, he claimed to have felt uncomfortable and ashamed of being black. He defied authority and was arrested at age 14 for possession of a gun and vandalism. He taught himself to read and attend Merritt College, earned an Associate of Arts degree. In 1989 he has arrested for embezzling state and federal funds.
