These documents have many ideas that are in our constitution.

Cause:  He believed that people were endowed with the natural rights of life, liberty, and property.  

Effect:  He wrote many inspiring writings. 


Hobbes:  Another English philosopher that had many opinions that helped us create the basis of the country.

Cause: He believed that is there is a sovieghn/ king then you are endowed to give them all of your rights.

Effect: He wrote many writings to defend the absolute power of the kings.


Montesquieu: Agreed with Locke's point of view on things.


Rousseau: He believed in a democracy in which every citizen could vote and make the laws.

Thomas Paine: Wrote common sense to stir up the colonists and encourage colonists to fight for independence against Britain.
