I grew up in Westchester and in a smaller house which was great because of the people and the memories. Then I moved to Darien which is much better from what I remember. This was the neighborhood I grew up in. As you can see it is full of smaller houses and run down buildings. Though it was like that, it was the best childhood I could ask for. Since I lived there, I would've went to Proviso West high school. I also went to glow preschool. I moved to Darien in 2011 I believe where to a house to attend Hinsdale South high school. In my life, I don't have power in anything besides my beliefs but people around me do have power. In my family, my parents and just really the adults have power because they do take care of us so it is right to listen to them and give them that power. In schools, it really is the adults again who have power just out of respect but at times they don't have to be given that respect they don't respect you. In terms of the government, they have power over a society because they can change any law or standard. As I grow into my adulthood, I think some important things to learn so I can have some power moving forward is knowing how to open a checking account, knowing how to pay taxes and how to have a good credit score. "Cell phones provide you with the opportunity to educate and upskill yourself through online research" (First link below). "By having access to food and entertainment at your fingertips, you might inadvertently be less active, which may affect your health in the long run"(Second link below). Technology in my generation has a huge impact. Between social media, texting and different games, people my age and older are starting to become consumed by technology for long periods of time. Big tech companies in my life do have an effect on me. Companies like Apple and Netflix obviously can consume my attention which isn't healthy. Technology can shape my future both positively and negatively. It can be positive because I can learn new things to help me going down the road. The aspects of my culture that I enjoy the most are all the ones I named. My Religion and faith is the biggest thing in my life. I love my family very much. Music helps me through a lot. Basketball also helps me through a lot because it clears my mind. And my nationality means a lot because I like to know what I am and where I was based. The thing I would like to change is my language. I want to learn how to speak Greek but I don't have the motivation or discipline to learn a new language right now. I think my generation now is different from the past because of the different time periods we lived in. Same thing with my peers and my Religion, I want to become closer with my faith and with God and also build stronger relationships. It doesn't really change the way I look at the media and economic systems because that really isn't something I give a lot of attention to anyways. Most of the people where I live are Christians. Where I live, people mostly voted for Joe Biden. My beliefs and values impact my life in small and big ways. Some small ways are I can't gamble or I can't have an idol and some big ways are the Ten Commandments. It is important to explore different beliefs and values because you might know someone who has a different faith and what you really want to do is respect their faith and understand what they believe in.
