When we first discover fire we had to understand to control what we have created, it took others to also understand and control this new technology, but some didn't like the new thing and didn't respected it untill they opened up to use it.

In the book robots are under than humans, athough the robots are superior. The robots have three laws to follow. Law 1 robots can't harm a human. Law 2 robots have to obey orders given by humans. Law 3 a robot can protect its self but can not do harm if it was a human. Bascally humans can control a robot to do its own bidding and the three laws also trip up some robots that try to be moral.

If a person is in trouble or in distress the robot must act to to help or control the situation.
"Robbie was constructed for only one purpose really—to be the companion of a little child. His entire 'mentality' has been created for the purpose. He just can't help being faithful and loving and kind. He's a machine—made so. That's more than you can say for humans." The author Asimov doesn't spend a lot of time in these stories looking at people who are afraid of robots, but don't understand them as well like labor unions and religious people. But we do spend a lot of time with people who understand robots and new technology. Even these people sometimes seem a little afraid of new tech but fear is still a response that a lot of people have to new creations.
