A good example of this would be: asking permission to use some music or whatever in say a video that you will upload to a website. You could go on a website and copy paste anything if its a public domain its a good idea to put the original creator's name. Ive seen someone steal music and upload it to a website and then copyright the original owner which obviously is not what one should do, you can get up to 5 years of prison for piracy. Some people have used more of say a song than is aloud (10% or no more than 30 seconds) which can possibly result in a lawsuit.
