         <description><![CDATA[<div>Japan was threatening the U.S. in the pacific so President Franklin Roosevelt put the Selective Service in place in order to help strengthen the U.S. military. 10 million men were drafted into the war and another 5 million volunteered. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1942, the WAAC (Women’s Auxiliary Army Corps) was formed. Roughly 250,000 women served military branches, taking on non-combative roles. They switched from consumer production to war production and by the time the war ended, 1/3 of people workin in U.S. business and industry were women. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There is great prejudice against Japanese Americans and thousands of families were put into Interment camps. Over 110,00 Japanese Americans were born in the U.S. and yet they were given no trials to determine guilt or signs of disloyalty. In these camps families were aloud to work but only on $18 a month and $0.45/day for food rations.</div>]]></description>

         <title>War Production Board</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The War Production Board (WPB) consumed the responsibility of controlling inflation and made sure the armed forces and war industries received the resources they needed to win the war. They collected scraps of iron, tin cans, paper, rags, and cooking fat so they could recycle those items to make into raw materials. In Chicago, school children collected 36 million pounds of old paper. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Office of Price Administration (OPA) fought inflation by freezing prices on most goods. Congress also raised income tax rates which reduced consumer demand on scarce goods and encouraged Americans to use their extra cash to buy war bonds. Inflation remained below 30% for the entire period of WW2.</div>]]></description>

Such as, films, photographs, radio programs, and posters. It was used to control what Americans thought about the war. It boosted patriotism and encouraged people to participate in the war effort (buying war bonds).</div>]]></description>
