Natchez Mississippi has been considered home for me from day 1. Growing up only an hour and a half away from Baton Rouge, my family has always been Tiger fans (despite the state line). I enjoyed growing up in a small community that enabled me to easily gain several friends from different schools across towns and play various sports at my small high school. I particularly enjoyed cross country, which encouraged me to continue running in college.
My father manages nursing homes and I was often given the opportunity to shadow him and the broad variety of employees that worked within each of them. After watching a speech therapist perform dysphagia therapies on one of her patients I knew that this is what I wanted to do (hence my COMD major). I hope to be able to work with a broad range of clients; from those with intellectual disabilities to those with TBI, and help them build and grow confidence and communicative function.
As far as my technological background, I have only ever owned a MacBook Pro as a computer and my last 3 or so phones have been iPhones. I’m pleased to say I can usually help my mom troubleshoot issues she has when using her own iPhone, but that is about as savvy as I am with technology. I have a small background working with the music software, Logic, but only with the assistance of two of my friends who were creating a song they put out on Spotify (which is cooler than anything I’ve been a part of).

Also, it was a great way for Mrs. Debbie to see who was in class each day and who was not.

We knew we wanted to focus on a certain population, not just generally LSU students and we wanted to do something different that what was presented to us before we started our own project.
Making our iMovie: I like that we used iMovie to create the videos, but I wish we were able to take them home on our own computers to work on them and had more time than only class time to work on them. Other than being short with time, it was easy to make!
