As the semester winds down and we are reviewing content. One topic is about behavior economics and nudges. This often involves understanding how human decision making is not always based on cold rational calculations and therefore there are limitations to the standard theories that behavior economics attempts to address. We spent a class reviewing some of these ideas and exploring how personalities change over time.

Ya, I'll admit it. I'm lazy. I spend a significant part of my time as a teacher trying to get students to be better at time management, but I'm a poor model. This is something I think I have improved on and really had to fight against my own tendencies to do so, but am glad that I have and do feel better about myself. I am a more conscious person, though I think the rank-order in my social groups hasn't changed much overall still.

Life Long Learning. It may seem cheesy or cliche to say but it's something that really stands out in the subject that I teach, it's a source of joy and frustration at the same time. I teach a topic that has some core ideas that seem be true and stable throughout time and context but at the same time is ever changing. I teach very different now from when I started as a teacher, not just because I've grown as a teacher but also because the topics I teach have evolved in our ever changing world. I think about the students I teach and how vastly different their life is compared to mine at their age, and how vastly different it will still be in the future. The moment you stop learning is to the moment you get left behind.
