Many people do not know how to differentiate what are the differences between Kaffarah and Fidya. If you deliberately break a fast without a valid reason, you must pay kaffarah. However, fidya (fidyah) is only paid if you miss a fast but have a valid reason to do so and are unable to make up the fast at any other time in the future. The amount paid for each missed fast is the equivalent of feeding 60 people. However, when paying fidya, the payment for each missed fast is equivalent to feeding 1 person.

What did I feel throughout the Usrah?

During the Usrah session, I find a sense of calm and relaxation as it allows me to reflect on my actions from the moments shared. By participating in Usrah sharing, my spiritual needs can be addressed and fulfilled through the guidance and insights provided by my naqibah. Finally, the Usrah session aids me in improving as a Muslim and believer while also keeping me from straying away from the correct path of Islam.

What did I learned from both Usrah?

Overall, the Usrah session provided me with a great deal of knowledge. Usrah enables me to gain and understand new information, motivating me to implement it in my everyday life as a habitual practice. The key lesson I gained from Usrah was that it was recognized for its harmonious atmosphere during sharing sessions, which were applicable to all people. In this method, the Usrah group fosters a space for members to grow their Muslim identity and enhance their spirituality. This enhances the overall Muslim community. Islam emphasizes the importance of brotherhood and sisterhood among Muslims, regardless of race, nationality, culture, or age.

For schedule needs to be time flexible to ease everyone. Usrah 1&2 was a nice idea to increase students’ commitment towards the Islamic lifestyle based on al-Quran and as-Sunnah, to generate the spirit of Islam beyond individual and cultural identities, and to enable students to understand different aspects of social reality. It helps a lot in one’s spiritual self-development. I hope in the future maybe the authority will improve the workload or syllabus of this course to make it more relatable and applicable for the students. Other than that, every input was beneficial.
