One very effective strategy I learned from the first lecture was having each students name written on a lollipop stick. By doing this you can simply pick out one stick and which ever student is picked out you ask them a question. This ensures that as a teacher you are not asking the same students the entire

I found this strategy very effective. It works by giving each table three plastic cups, a red cup, green cup and orange cup. If students are struggling with a task they display the red cup so the teacher will know to help them. If they are not 100% certain but have some knowledge they display the orange cup and if they are fully sure of what to do and how to do the task they display the green cup. This is a great method as sometimes students are embarrassed to ask the teacher if they are stuck so the students don't need to say a word the teacher can tell by what colour they display.

I learned about this method in the second lecture. The teacher has a box beside his/her desk and students write down any questions they may have and place them in the box. Some students may be embarrasses asking a question out loud so this way they do not have to. The teacher will then read the questions out to the class and other students can answer them

If a student is misbehaving to do start shouting at them immediately. Try to reason with them in a way that works out for both of ye. In order to gain respect it is important to show the student respect and show that you care. Be interested in what they have to say and try to help them as much as you can.

The students will simply write an answer on the board and hold it up for the teacher to see. Some students may be quite shy and embarrassed to speak in front of the class so this really suits them

It is very important that you plan your introduction very effectively as it sets out how your lesson will go. For example, an introduction that grabs students attention immediately will set them on task and they will become interested straight away. A picture, quote or even writing on the board can grab the students attention. A teacher who did very little planning and has a weak introduction will find it very difficult to control the class as the students may become bored.
