He was against the war and didn't see a point in helping the effort because he didn't want to kill poor people who didn't do anything to him. Ali also states that he rather just be taken to jail. During his speeches he would be challenged by kids with a higher education and would always beat them in the argument. One argument he got into with a white boy, he stated " You, the white people are the enemy, not viet kong, chinese, or japanese ".
