How I implement in my classroom...

In my classroom, I tend to emphasize on performance character. Benjamin Bloom has concluded that “perseverance is at least as crucial [to their accomplishments] as intelligence (as cited in Seider, 2012, Pg. 115-116). I push my students to the understand that perseverance through my class and assignments is not taken for granted. I make myself available three days a week to help all students with assignments, corrections, or anything they need help with from my class. By giving them so much of my time, I hope to instill that if I work hard for them they should work hard for me. This has been proven effective in my tutoring session by the number of students that attend on a regular basis. Lastly, in my class all students understand my class moto of there is no such thing as failure if you just try. My students understand that any grade is better than a ZERO and with that they know effort to complete assignment is important to me. I believe that students are capable of so much more than what most teachers on my campus believe and because of this I have better percentage of assignments turned in and less discipline problems over all. Civic and Moral character are both implement side by side in my classroom. Everyone of my classes is considered a team and are awarded class rewards based on the implementation of class dojo. Each student receives positive or negative individual points for completion of homework, participation, following rules, and being prepared. I believe that these components build civic character in the aspects of teaching students to communicate and follow rules to become better students and in the future mature adults.
