My spring break was really exciting. Last Saturday I got to hang out with my cousins and we went to Dave and Buster's. My little cousin, Noelle, was so excited and just kept running around going up to different games. Last Sunday I had was given the opportunity to have a private volleyball lesson, the lesson went great I learned a lot. But what happened afterward was the best part of my day, the joy I felt was like nothing before. My private lesson coach offered me to practice on her 18's team and I'm only on the 15's team. the rest of the week was pretty chill. I went to see Batman on Wednesday, it was a really good movie and then we went to Olive Garden afterward. Olive Garden is one of my Favorite places to go even though I don't go often. Then on Saturday, we went to a birthday party and the food was delicious. It was Mexican food and there were so many classic foods like tacos, posole, tamales, and so much more. To end My weekend I has a tournament on Sunday and we went 2-1.

My Take- Danger of a Single Story

A single-story is when you have a fixed mindset on one thing and you don’t care about what other people say or think. This video showed me how vulnerable and how quickly the things we read can consume us. It takes one stereotype, one statement, and one perception to change our beliefs and how we feel and see people. Do you things not only affect how we see other people but also how other people see us. We’re not generic and we’re not all copies of each other so when you’re constantly hearing the same thing over and over again you start to think that’s the only way and there’s not just because you’re one thing doesn’t mean you can’t be a little bit of everything else. This video also showed that you can’t let one bad thing take over everything else we are all different and we all have a different past so you can’t take the small negatives in life and forget about the positives. So when we rejected the single story you realize there’s not just one side to someone.

This video showed us that it's not about taking all the AP and honors classes you can but doing the best that you can in them. She didn't take all the honors and AP classes that she could because she knew her limits. It also shows that the extracurricular activities that you do are also important. I also know not to stress too much about my SATs because I have other options in case that don't work out. So in the end I just need to worry about my execution of things and not about taking as much as I can.

My journey. A lot of people go through these different phases in life and at one point there's just a sense of emptiness and sadness. I feel like this describes how I feel sometimes when you're just there. Especially recently just feels like a never-ending pit. I feel like this poem is meant to be said in a sad sorrowful tone so that you are able to connect with what you are saying and feeling. The theme is just going through a rough time. Anyone can listen/read this poem but when you can relate to it and have gone through something similar I feel like that's where the big connection is made.

Modern English
What is there so special about you, what are you made of, that you can express millions of unusual forms? Everyone else has only one form but you, although just one person, can add something to everyone else’s form. Try and paint Adonis and the forgery is a poor imitation of you. Or capture Helen in all her beauty and it’s you, newly painted in Grecian clothes. Mention the spring and the rich harvest season – the one is just a weak reflection of your beauty and the other a pale imitation of your richness. We recognise you in every beautiful object we see. There’s something of you in every appearance of beauty but you’re not like any of them – and none of them are like you – in the constancy of your heart.
