So if I were to connect that with my family and I then it would probably go like this. My parents take care of the household and work so then if we looked at my parents as like the 2 presidents of the house then me and my sister would be the people, and we have the power to do what we want. Unless it counts against my parents wishes. As an example if my parents said that we are going on vacation to this specific place then my sister and I have the power to refuse and say “ no we don’t want to go”. I mean come on this is just an example if it was a real vacation then I would already be in the car. Moving on, as you can see that my sister and I also have the power.

So if I were to replace the real meaning of republicanism and replace it with my own then this is probably how it would go. So let’s say that it’s Friday night and my family and I were trying to decide on what kind of food we wanted to eat. Let’s suppose that I wanted thai food, but I didn’t quite know what the rest of my family wanted, but I knew that they wanted different things than I wanted. So since we can’t decide and are disagreeing on what we want to eat then we just vote by using our power to vote. I get four pieces of paper, and everyone will write down what they want to eat. Let’s just suppose that I wrote down thai food, my mom wrote down thai food, my sister wrote down mexican food, and my dad wrote down indian food. Well none of us know what the other person picked until we count the votes. Once I opened up all the votes and noticed that thai food got 2 votes so thai food wins and we get thai food that night as dinner.

So to plug this in to my family problem then this is how it would probably look like. So let’s say that my parents are the national government and my sister and I are the state government. Well, according to what Federalism means that both the national and state government share powers this means that both my parents, me and my sister share powers which brings us together. So for example, if we received the power off paying each other to do something, well even though my parents are in a higher position since I am considering them as the national government then we would still receive the same amount of money. So as an instance I asked my sister to get me something and told her that I would pay her 5 dollars if she got it for me, well if I asked my parents the same thing then it doesn’t mean that since they are the national government they get more money, no I will still pay them 5 dollars to get it for me.

So each part in the house has a different job like the stove is used to cook things and it gives off heat, the doors are used to prevent things from coming inside and to secure the house, the alarm is used to let us know for intruders or to protect us, and so on so forth. But if I were to put this as my family then this is how it would go. So my moms job would be to do some of the household work and do her work, my job is to help her with some household work and do good in school, my sister job is to be a monkey because she is 6 and is a monkey, my dad's job is to do his work and maybe do the bill. So let’s use my mom and me as an example. My mom adds a couple of restrictions for me and my phone, she says that I should only have screen time on my phone for 2 hours. So every now and then she checks my phone to make sure that I didn’t go above that screen time.

So in this case it would probably be something like this, in my family we have a rule that we need to respect others and it doesn’t matter how old the other person is but they still need to follow the same rule. So for example, my dad is the oldest in the house but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t get to respect the rest of us or he doesn’t get to follow how the rest of us like to be, he needs to follow the same rules as the rest of us unless one specific rule was set for only one of us.

So in the case with my family I have the right to watch t.v or I have the right to do certain things, and that goes the same for the rest of my family. Like my sister has the right to talk with her friends, my mom has the right to text her friends, my dad has the right to do what he wants and so on so forth.
