I am a Business major at Sinclair, after 3 years of being a Biology major for 3 years. Nearly 2.5 years into that degree, I was diagnosed with cancer, and everything stopped. After I went into remission, my thinking changed, as did my career path. Several years later, I am just now refocused and am close to completing leg 1 of a different journey.

3 Areas of Improvement

1. Budgeting - Although I've been "budgeting" for several years, I was reminded of the important of analyzing needs vs. wants. Being mindful of this has helped me save more money than I have in the past.
2. Presentations - I have been able to use the Padlet skills I've acquired in different presentations at work. This provides a nice change from the typical PowerPoint presentations we're used to in the business world.
3. Sinclair Community - After the module that is all about Sinclair, I became more aware of the resources that are available to me. I have since used the Sinclair library, as well as the suggested external resources for scholarships.

Areas of Weakness

1. Time Management - I sometimes struggle with time management due to my full time job that often requires travel, as well as the full time school load I take. Both of these areas are important to me, but I struggle with finding enough time for school. I believe visiting Student Support Services could be beneficial.
2. Writing - I enjoy writing and I enjoy English, but I have found that a fresh pair of eyes looking over my work significantly improves my writing. I think visiting the Writing Center would help me improve my first drafts.
3. Tutoring - In light of my full schedule, I am slightly intimidated taking an online Accounting class next semester. I think that visiting a tutor on a regular basis could help me stay on track, and ensure I understand basic concepts.

5 Things I've Learned

1. I learned about Padlet and how to use it! I enjoy this means of presenting, and will likely use it in the future.
2. The Sinclair Resources was one of the most helpful assignments, in my opinion. I now have a document to save that explicitly tell she what I have access to by being a student at Sinclair
3. The Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test was a fun assignment and helped me learn about myself. I will be able tot are this information with me and apply it to every aspect of my life.
4. I really enjoyed one of the first assignments we did on the case study of Eugenia. This opened my eyes to the fact that I may not be the only one feeling like a fish out of water. I could relate to this assignment, and it gave me new perspective.
5. Journaling on Google Drive was very easy, and also taught me something about online documents that I didn't know. I will be using Google docs moving forward, for various business and extracurricular activities.

I love the Olympics - both summer and winter! Even though Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan introduced me to these games, it was the performance of the Magnificent 7 that reeled me in. I will never forget, as an 11 year old girl, watching Kerri Strug overcome adversity and tremendous pressure to lock in the first gold medal for the ladies gymnastics team!
