Fugitive Slave Act

The Fugitive Slave Act allowed freed slaves to be captured and taken back to their former owner. When they were back with their owner they could be beaten or killed depending on what the owner thought was necessary.

Dred Scott Decision

Dred Scott had tried to sue someone in federal court. He got denied because the U.S. Supreme Court stated that enslaved people were not citizens, therefore cannot use in Federal Court.

Raid on Harpers Ferry
