We should allow students an outlet to be active. The body needs some amount of exercise to increase executive functioning and that will help students focus. Also, we need to keep in mind some factors that may effect teenagers more than adults. For example, sleep deprivation is common among students in High School. Perhaps depending on our period we could have some exercise to get them ready for the day.

I think it's important to acknowledge the stress that students going through puberty are experiencing. I think it's important for them to understand that everyone goes through the changes that they're experiencing. In order to maintain high academic achievement, students could work in groups so they don't feel isolated or estranged from others. Working in groups might also help ease students' self-awareness as they work alone.

The reality is all these students are going through changes. Let them know that it will not have an effect on their ability to focus (even if that is a little lie as we know the brain is changing during adolescence)
