Regardless of what we have learned, we start to look at the bigger picture instead of sticking to a general assumption or belief. Despite the deception behind it, Kumare has not only brought change to his students, but also to himself, as he now knows what a guru feels and experiences, instead of solely relying on observations. He now understands the extent of influence that gurus have, real or fake.

Experience and primitives

Knowledge is the state of unambiguous positive retention (or basically, claims that cannot be refuted). Broadly I think that there are two kinds of knowledge. One kind of knowledge comes from experience without any categorization imposed onto it (which includes language, as language categorizes things) and the other kind of knowledge, which might seem opposite to experience, and this kind of knowledge is what I like to call primitivisms, or concepts which express the fundamental constructs that support experience (one example of a primitivism would be the nature of a definition, for example).

Experience is that which is apprehensible only by the subject and irreducible to any mental states outside of the subject (thus, its scope also only applies to the subject). They can be broken down into qualia, or time-bound, subjectively-determined bits. An example of an experience would be the tingling sensation on a "dead" foot, but the concepts "tingling" and "sensation" only partially express it. The knowledge here is the actual signals that entered your consciousness, or the interpretation of note. Note that I have not said anywhere that this is knowledge to anyone outside the subject, this is your knowledge, and no one else's. Being limited to you doesn't invalidate its status as knowledge.

The other kind of knowledge is the sort of conceptual apprehension that is necessary for making claims of the external world (note that this is not the same as saying claims about of the external world are knowledge, because in a majority of cases, they are not). This includes personal definitions (and not in terms of external language, which is another thing entirely) of concepts like "I", "you", "it", "they" and other basic operations (like "and" or "or"). Of course they can take any other form, but essentially they are particles to help link experiential claims in a personally comprehensible manner. Note that this conceptual formation is also subjective; you could say that these personal primitives form a grammar to connect your experiences to each other, resulting in a language for yourself (that is idiosyncratic).

You can thus apprehend your own experiences, and through personal non-experiential primitives (once again, personal though) link them together. Can you know things outside of yourself? I would say that you cannot know them in the sense that you cannot quite atemporally draw them together into unambigious conclusions (like you can with your own experiences and languages), but you can make temporally-decaying claims (i.e I see that this rat is running, I think that perhaps at this point it is looking for its prey) through induction. But since you cannot apprehend the experiences of others without language (or without some other medium of indirect transfer, like art), you also cannot know their minds.

One indirect way to know the contents of the minds of others is through language, and through metaphor. I think art is important because it allows for expression in a non-rigorous manner through symbolism (and thus transmit more mental content to others), but it is limited by the degree to which people understand the symbolism therein, which is still superimposing an experience of your own (or assuming a "collective" one) over a personal one. Non-personal languages can also only express general concepts that don't always reflect thought-content (unlike a personal language).

Therefore, I think absolute knowledge claims are limited to your own mind and experiences. You can induce and have a temporary grasp on other minds, but not an absolute one, which is why inquiry into various perspectives is important, because it helps make your induction more accurate.

-R.
