Japanese Internment Camps were triggered by the event that took place in Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, and was fueled by war hysteria, racial prejudice, and an error of character committed by the United States. An executive order was authorized for all 120,000 Japanese Americans to be forcibly relocated to "internment camps", when the reality was, they were concentration camps. Leaving behind all their possessions to live a life in barbed wire camps with unsanitary conditions, segregation and prejudiced treatment was the reality and circumstances Japanese American citizens had to endure. There was a stamp of resistance, however, from Nisei, a term used for second generation children of Japanese immigrants in America. Many of them violated the rules and regulations, demanding their arrest, even bringing their cases to Supreme Court. After the harsh conditions endured, reparations and apologies followed from Presidents and higher official authority. Japanese Internment Camps reflect this dark episode endured in American history by Japanese Americans, provoked by the anguish of Pearl Harbor. Innocent Japanese American families were placed under unbearable circumstances, with harsh conditions, and a complete violation of their rights fueled by discrimination. Moving forward, this moment in time reflections the level of error and prejudice in the United States, and how infringed and violated civil rights and liberties were based off of racial injustice and discrimination.
