Throughout the book the church is mentioned a lot. The spoon will represent how she is a home keeper/cook/cleaner. She does a lot around the house and a spoon is just one of the many things that can represent how hard she works. food can represent how she cooks. cooking is definitely part of her job because she’s looking after 2 children. the first picture is the 2 tea cups, if you have seen beauty and the beast, you know what the story is behind the cups. The bigger one acts as a mother to the little one. even though I don’t believe they are really related. this is exactly how Calpurnia is, she acts as a mother figure. and the last thing is the picture of her, Jem, and Scout. This is something very important because these are the kids she looked after. a syrup bottle: this symbolizes the lesson Cal taught Scout when Walter came over for dinner and drowned his food in syrup and Scout judged him. The bottle symbolizes this lesson and the other lessons she teaches Scout and Jem

a cross: The cross symbolizes Calpurnias involvement with the church, but the cross also represents dedication. Dedication describes Calpurnia because of her devotion and dedication to the Finch family.

the color turquoise: this color represents femininity, wisdom, love, and loyalty. Calpurnia was the mother figure in Scout and Jem’s lives and she was very loyal to the family.

a book: This book represent Calpurnia’s education. Cal is very educated and described as more educated than her peers. She passes this on to Scout and Jem through her wisdom.

A pot: This pit represent Calpurnia’s relationship to the Finches. She helped around the Finch house. She looked after the kids and also cooked and cleaned.
