Hello! I am ECEM, from Turkey. I work as an English teacher in primary school since 2015. I live in east side of Turkey, Ağrı. I am here for east-duty of ministry education of Turkey. My school is not so big. We have 12 classrooms total. My grades are 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I also teach English to 8th grades in secondary school. I have 2 schools as you can see. But unfortunately we dont have technological resources in our schools. Just smart boards which dont have an internet connection. In east of Turkey, such schools like mine get through the same problem. Because in east, there is no substructure of internet and no money for buying enough computers or smart boards.

Here are my results;

Well done! You have reached level 3 of digital competence. This means you are competent to use ICT autonomously in your teaching.

To develop your practice, you could focus on how to use ICT where it benefits your students’ learning most, how ICT can enable access to learning for those with special needs or disabilities and explore new teaching practices with ICT. You might still benefit from more inspiration and guidance on the pedagogical use of ICT and how to best involve students to achieve specific learning goals supported by ICT.

I'd like to improve mostly my learning design and collaboration through ICT. We can analyze and compare our scores with other teachers. This is collaboration too.

We can examine and internalize the ideas in inspiring videos here, adapt it to our own students if possible. They should learn to trust each other, be respectful of their choices and their classmate's choices.

They should know how to afford this problem and it is our duty to teach them the right ways. Maybe we can discuss it in our classrooms and show some videos on youtube. They should learn how to use their technological machines safely!

Kesinlikle katılıyorum. Bunu her okulda düzgünce uygulamak mümkün olmayabilir.

1.6 How to make use of TET-SAT in your own context

Well, in my country, ofcourse TET-SAT is important but unfortunately we dont have much choice in classrooms except for smart boards. In east, the situation is worse. We generally dont have internet connection and we have to download any song,video,game,test (including listening parts) or context from the internet. I dont want to stick to the students book but generally we dont have much choice.

In my opinion, firstly we should inform people all over the world about TET-SAT, because most people doesnt even know it exist. They should provide internet connection and enough devices to schools because it is a technology-age and they should know what it is, how to use it safely and how to adopt it to their process or work. Most importantly, teachers, schoolheads and policy makers should know exactly what to do and how to direct students to the right way. There should be conferences about it, including videos, live implementations and educational workshops about it. Then, we can adopt and use it safely in our classrooms.

As for how to use it in my school, I can firstly show how to use it safely, which sites are reliable which are not. I can tell what to do against cyberbullying and how to react. We can make group works and examine all other students around the world about the same subject. There will be no need to time-wasted activities anymore because we can quickly search what we are looking for and design our classroom environment according to that. By making online portfolios together, we can see how far we can go and how far we have gone so far. We can compare our results to colleagues and all other students and improve ourselves.

But first schoolheads should be informed and educated about this, we should work together.

With their lack of support, it is very hard to adopt this to our schools and students..

It is nice that TET-SAT makes a positive effect on teachers. I am also not surprised that 15% of teachers has a problem of using TET-SAT as a new assessment tool because as they say there are too many work hours, no technological devices at home or at their school or maybe they have a negative view on ICT.

We cant take them as a whole because there are different oppurtunities of each, different working hours, different views of technology used in self-assessment and etc. Teachers just have to be aware of the importance of using ICT and should develop their competence.
