The first stage in Erikson's Theory of Development is trust vs mistrust. This stage starts at birth and continues until the child is 1 year old. During this stage the infant doesn't know about the world they are in so they lean on their primary caregiver for their care.
An example of this from when I was a baby was I depended on my mom to feed me, change me, soothe me, bathe me, and put me to sleep. Without her then I would not be alive right now.

In this stage, the child starts to feel confident in their ability to achieve goals. But the children can also feel a lack of confidence. This happens when a child has not been properly prepared for school life or their teachers and peers destroy the child's confidence with negative comments and acts.
An example of this stage in my life would be I was actually the cheer captain and I felt that I have achieved the highest goal in middle school. During this stage all the young adult thinks about is the major conflicts of making relationships of different kinds. Some will actually end up isolating themselves due to past disappointments.
An example of this for me would be I am very open so I make relationships with almost anyone. I am a CNA so I tend to have quite a few relationships with my residents as well as my staff. I also maintain a romantic relationship with my husband.

This stage is about the adult making a decision to make their mark on the world or to not contribute to the world and remain stagnant and be unproductive.
I see myself in the future giving back to the community to talk about specific topics in schools and giving speeches to classes. I also want to raise my son the right way to love everyone and accept everyone for who they are so he can go out into the world to give the love and acceptance back.

The eighth and final stage of Erikson's Theory of Development is integrity vs despair. This stage occurs from the age of 65 to death. During this stage, we look back at our accomplishments and see that we lived a well and successful life. You see that your life was worth living or you were dissatisfied with your life and now you fear death. Erikson believed that if we looked back and so how unproductive we were with our life we will develop despair and eventually become depressed or filled with hopelessness.
I see myself in the future looking back and seeing that I made a difference in the world and in my community by giving back. I want to live a successful life and never be scared of death.
