But it sometimes happens that I cannot easily shake off the village. The thought of some work will run in my head and I am not where my body is—I am out of my senses.

"There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, — no disgrace, no calamity, (leaving me my eyes,) which nature cannot repair. Standing on the bare ground, — my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space, — all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eye-ball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or particle of God."

This prominent effect that nature has on Emerson is described in the fifth tenet of Transcendentalism, "A Return to Nature and Simplicity". The photo above represents Emerson's idea of a "transparent eye-ball".

If we are really dying, let us hear the rattle in our throats and feel cold in the extremities; if we are alive, let us go about our business."

This quote relates to the first tenet of Transcendentalism "Seeking the Truth".

This poem was created by Walt Whitman, an American poet who is well known as the "father of free verse". This poem portrays the struggle of life and Whitman's answer to all of the stressful and unwanted situations life brings upon oneself. The beginning of the poem illustrates the negative aspect of life, which revolves around being with foolish people, the struggle of self-identity, and the idea of wasting years of one's life. Whitman follows up to these agonizing aspects of life by giving the answer, one should live through their own verse and should be happy due to their self-identity; This relates to Transcendentalism by connecting to the second tenet, "Individualism and the Goodness of Man". The image above represents someone who has found their happiness through living under their own verse and by containing self-love.

The source of love is within me. I give love to friends through helping when they need help, affection when they need affection, and love when they need love. I give love to strangers through smiling no matter the circumstance, sparking small talk in awkward situations, being a speck of light in the sky of black stars. I give love to myself through speaking positive affirmations directly to me, allowing myself to be my true, authentic self, being my own sunrise as the sun outside decides to set. The purpose of my life is to express love, unconditional love, for friends, strangers, myself, and the world in which circulates around me.

My declaration of self is to give love to others and myself. I hope to spread love to all, whether it be small or large acts.
