Uma extensa pesquisa foi iniciada com o objetivo de identificar mais elementos e grupos; no entanto, apenas 9 dos 54 elementos conhecidos na época foram agrupados. A Tríade de Döbereiner foi considerada, na época, uma mera coincidência pelos estudiosos.</p><p><br></p>]]></description>

Observou a periodicidade das propriedades físicas e químicas dos elementos. Em 1862, organizou os elementos em ordem crescente de suas massas atômicas, dispostos ao longo de uma linha helicoidal. Este modelo ficou conhecido como Parafuso Telúrico de Chancourtois.</p>]]></description>

Ele organizou os elementos com propriedades semelhantes em 11 grupos, onde os elementos apresentados possuíam massas em uma relação de multiplicidade de 8. Essa organização ficou conhecida como a Lei das Oitavas.</p>]]></description>
