The colors, the realistic visual, the vibrancy. I can imagine myself looking out at the pond, feeling the soft wind on my face, smelling the flowers... it seems like a dream! It is on my bucket list to go to the pond that inspired Monet to paint this. It is in Giverny, France.

He fascinates me as a person and an artist. What I also found interesting is that he painted this self portrait once before, but a year previously, and he painted nearly the entire thing in shadow using very dark colors. He was a mad man, but a wonderful artist.
