This day in particular though, we found a nice 24" tube TV for $30. We had the money and it looked nice, even including a VCR and DVD player built in. This was back before we got HD TV service, so this was a nice find. Anyway, we decided that we wanted to check it out. The person running the sale even let us test the VCR! The TV worked great, but after the salesperson wanted to take the VHS tape out, he had some difficulty and broke the VCR portion of it! So how is this relevant? The person decided that he just wanted to give it away for free after that incident and that's what made us really want it, so we asked our mom about it, and she was cool about bringing it, but she wouldn't come and move it. At that point, we were an entire quarter-mile from our house and we knew it was too heavy to lift, so we did the only thing we could do. We left and I came back with a small wagon that I had lying around. We, with the help of the person running the sale, got the TV up in the wagon and we made the long trip home. Keep in mind that we were only 12, and we were shrimps of 12 year olds, so pulling this thing was quite the challenge, much less lifting it out. Anyway, we got it out and set up, and that was our living room TV for about a year before we went HD. We had this old color projection TV that was sitting for 2 and a half years with no picture, and my mom finally decided to get that thing out of the house. So we rounded up a couple nice and helpful neighbors and moved it down a step, down the steep driveway, and onto some rocks to wait for the bulk trash crew to take it away. It was a heavy TV, but luckily, it had some wheels on the bottom of it. It wasn't nearly as difficult as getting the TV in example 1 into the house, but it was quite the challenge. That TV in this story is long gone as of today as it was taken away while I was at school sometime in 7th grade. Basically, I had trouble choosing a topic and my low self-confidence at the time didn't help. We were given an entire school week to do it and it was already Thursday. I then had to quickly choose something to talk about since I didn't want a zero. So, I chose my topic and had no time to practice. I then gave my speech the next day and did pulled stuff out of my butt (not literally).
