nurture basic discipline

School uniforms are a must in many countries such as Ghana, Sg,Australia, Argentina,Algeria,Austria, Bangladesh, China ,HK,France, Costa Rica and many more. Having to wear uniforms to school everyday, this in turn causes students to be responsible and disciplined. But what do I mean by this? This ensures students have to check everyday to make sure their uniforms are clean, prim and proper. Furthermore, they also have to learn to obey the rules from young. Primary education is compulsory in 34 countries, starting from an age of as young as 7. Additionally, 135 countries now have legal guarantees to provide free education for these children. What I'm hinting at here is that this basic discipline is instilled into children while they're still young. The first 12 years of a child's life is vital in ensuring that they become productive and a successful member in society. Instilling this basic discipline and responsibility while they're young will be beneficial in the future and ensure the future generations have a head start in life rather than having to develop these values via other means that could be less impactful

In 2019, 9.2% of the entire world was living in poverty, about 689 million people live on less than $1.90 a day according to the world bank. Out of the 689mill people,11.6 million people , 16% of all the children in the world in 2019 were living in poverty. As such, these students live off little to none income and with such a tight budget. These students do not have the money to spare to afford clothes. School uniforms cost on average $25-$200. This may seem okay to US as we'll be wearing these for the majority of our school life. But, if you do the math, that's a 105 days worth of their money spent on just uniforms. So, how can these students afford any clothes to wear? But in these same countries, school subsidy programmes help tank the cost of school supplies, such as the FAS programme in singapore, COVERING 100% of the cost of school supplies, INCLUDING uniforms. This helps students to have clothes to wear to school. Additionally, this terminates the possibility of bullying due to simply being poorer than your classmates. This allows these students to feel more comfortable in their school environment and provide a safe place for them.

Although 90 percent of the students indicated they did not like wearing uniforms, various benefits to wearing uniforms were reported, including decrease in discipline, gang involvement and bullying. This is because with a school uniform, student will not do any crimes/illegal activities as if they were caught by a CCTV, the police will be able to trace it back the student's school, thus the chances of getting caught by the police will increase. It also increases safety, ease of going to school, confidence and self-esteem.
