I think that the people in this line lost their jobs or their saving because when the Great Depression was happening banks were closing and they were not like they are today so people lost their savings and if they lost their job or savings it could explain why they are so unhappy.
What I see is a bunch of African Americans lined up some with bags and some with children standing in front of a billboard that says “worlds highest standard of living, there’s no way like the American way” the people on the sign are all super happy and white while everyone in the line looks unhappy or irritated and are only black.
What I wonder is why these people are standing in line. They are standing in front of a billboard that seems to be telling people what America should look like. All of the people standing are black, and the people on the billboard are white. I think that this is an excellent representation of how much America was tricking people into thinking that it is some beautiful cookie-cutter idea of what a state should look like, when really there are so many people struggling on a daily basis. I wonder why this billboard was here. Who were they trying to fool? (In America that is). It just seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
