This was the first toothbrush ad I could find from 1905. The big emphasis was on its portable yellow box and that it was "indispensable" for travelers. The amount of text on the ad is definitely something we are not used to in the modern day of advertising as it's small and very hard to read.

This Kleanwell Toothbrush Ad is similar to Pro-phy-lac-tic as it has a large text box in the middle containing all the text and information, with graphics around it.

10 Years later, the style of ads seemed to experiment more as the big image of the toothbrush box takes up a significant portion of the ad, with less text accompanying it on the sides

Talking about the "future" of peoples teeth in 10 years showcasing the longevity of their product. Doctor recommended and "approved by thousands of leading dentists and health authorities" shows consumers they can trust the product.

First ad using pearly white teeth to directly show consumers an image of what their product can do. Despite this ad being for tooth powder and not a toothbrush, it was successful due to the infamous pearly white teeth we see on all types of toothbrush/paste advertisements

This print ad showcased a study which revealed that teeth were the most beautiful feature that impressed others. Toothbrush ads now seemed to completely disregard the box it came in and focused more on getting people to want to brush their teeth more

Focusing the attention on getting kids and family involved in brushing their teeth together and "making it fun" since brushing your teeth is generally a boring task. Getting kids excited and adding the powered toothbrush aspect definitely worked in getting more people to buy more dental hygiene products.

Most toothpaste/brush ads today feature extremely white teeth with minimal text and an emphasis on bright colors.
