  • El imperialismo fue una política de expansión y dominación territorial, cultural y económica de una nación sobre otras.
  • El imperialismo es la causa de grandes problemas del mundo contemporáneo.
  • El imperialismo complemento el aspecto geográfico con otros aspectos culturales, creando las bases  de un nuevo orden mundial  que se basaba en el dominio económico
  • Una consecuencia del imperialismo  es la actual división internacional  en los cuales unos países están encargados de producir la materia prima y otros de los artículos elaborados.
  • El imperialismo se caracteriza por la implantación del dominio de una nación por otra, mediante el uso de la fuerza, interviniendo militarmente e invadiendo el país, tomando el poder ya sea de forma total o parcial, o de forma sutil mediante la complicidad de poderes fácticos oriundos del país.
  • Reparto de casi toda África, las islas del Pacífico y el sudeste asiático entre las potencias industriales de Europa. Esto dio lugar a la formación de grandes imperios coloniales.
  • Los protectorados, Estados ocupados que mantenían cierta autonomía. Fue el caso de Egipto, que fue protectorado británico desde 1914.
