Soon after he became president the stock market crashed and the population slowly became broke. Since Hoover was president during this time the blame for was put on him because he was taking too long to fix everything. He was then seen as the man to blame for the Great Depression. Everything associated with being poor during those time has his name on it. He explained the difference between the two classes during that time and they were the old money and new money. He exemplified the way the people were finding all these new amenities like jazz music, flapper dresses, and dancing. This book showed what the twenties actually were, the good and the bad parts. Jay Gatsby had represented the new money made through gambling and stock markets while Daisy represented the old money made through a family name.
