Merlin Carpenter - The Estate of Sara Cox (2000)

What is particularly sticking out to me in this piece is the intricacy of the background while simultaneously being monochromatic. As well as the painterly depiction of the woman who is almost out of context based on her size in comparison to the background.

I am particularly interested in painting women as of currently. Since painting my chapter 1 assignment I have a new found interest about the decay of beauty or the work that people in the limelight get to conform to western beauty standards

Something I a really interested in currently is voyeuristic paintings. Whay i really likeabout Robusti’s work is the fullness of his pieces. There is so much to see in his work and the birds eye point of view/fisheye used gives the impression of an all seeing viewer yet the distortion gives the idea of what is almost an unreliable narrator.
