I was very surprised to find out there are “ripperologists” out there. People who actually study Jack the Ripper and his case. People devote time and money trying to come up with theories, movies and books hoping to finally solve the mystery. 

2.Provide a real-life example of how this topic is relevant or interesting for you.

            I have always been interested in mysteries. I always loved reading/watching shows, movies and books about mystery. To me, Jack the Ripper will always be a mystery and we truly will never know the identity. I think that’s what’s so fascinating to me and a lot of other people. Everyone loves a good mystery and I enjoyed doing research on this topic.  

3.Which research did you find most interesting?  Why?

                        I was very fascinated at how little we know about Jack the Ripper. We have no idea who it was, if it was male or female, if the letters were fake or actual written by the killer. We have little to no evidence and we do not know what happened to him/her after the murders stopped. Everything we have are mostly just theories.  

4. What are you most likely to remember from this research?

            I really enjoyed watching Jack the Ripper. it has made me more invested in this topic. I think what I am most likely to remember is there are tours in London you can take on Jack the Ripper and I would love to do one someday.

5. Having completed all the course content, which pseudoscience belief do you think is most harmful?  Which is least harmful? 
  I think they all have potential to be harmful. However, the one I think is most harmful would be ideology. I think it’s the most harmful because it’s always important to critically think about things and form your own opinion. Don’t believe things because you are told to but believe things because that’s what makes the most sense to you. It’s always important to keep an open mind and not spread hate. I think least harmful would be unexplained because since we have not yet explained it, I think it is interesting to come up with different theories trying to explain it. 

            

6. If you could pass on your knowledge to a family member or friend, what do you think is most important thing to pass on?

            I think the most important thing to pass on is, you can’t believe everything you read or see on the internet. If someone is trying to sell you something, do your research before buying (especially if it’s a celebrity). If you read something that doesn’t make sense, don’t pass it on, its how false information gets spread. Most of all it is important to know the red flags and be able to recognize them.
