Subsequently, this competency criterion is a cornerstone of ethical nursing practice, and it is especially crucial when working with different patient populations, in my opinion. Here's how I try to put this theory into practice: when I deal with any new patient from a different background I believe in active listening. I listened to their concerns, and with the help of that conversation, I also asked short questions in which with the help of I could acknowledge that resident more which is also known as effective communication. Secondly, I know with numerous patients there are language barriers so I improved speaking the English language in simple words and at a low pace so they can easily understand me. Finally, applying the competency standard of person-centered and family-centered care is central to my nursing practice. It enables me to give clinically successful care that is also culturally aware, courteous, and inclusive. By prioritizing the needs and preferences of my migrant and refugee patients and incorporating their families as needed, I hope to provide care that adheres to the highest ethical standards in nursing.

Africa is the second highest population continent and the country in Africa is Nigeria. In 2021, Africa has been hit by more than just a global pandemic. Some of its countries have been hit by significant humanitarian crises, with states dealing with high rates of famine, civil unrest, natural disasters, and non-coronavirus public health threats.

  Things worsened in June 2021, when the region officially declared famine, with food insecurity worsening due to the civil war. Additionally, in 2020, over 400,000 people of African heritage lived in Australia. This equates to 1.6% of the Australian population and 5.1% of the country's foreign-born population. The majority (58%) are white South Africans, with 42% being black Africans from Sub-Saharan Africa (Renzaho & Counted, 2021). Furthermore, three common concerns related to health for Africans are Schistosomiasis, Strongyloidiasis, and skin infections.
 
Schistosomiasis: Schistosomiasis is a persistent parasitic infection caused by Schistosoma flukes. Contact with infective cercariae in freshwater (e.g., swimming or bathing) released by an intermediate snail host in freshwater results in infection. Schistosomiasis affects 200 million people worldwide and is responsible for approximately 200,000 deaths in Africa each year. For this issue, if they have lived in or traveled through endemic countries including Africa, parts of Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, offer blood testing for schistosomiasis serology. If the serology results are negative, there is no need for further testing.

Skin infection : However, skin issues were the sixth most common condition among newly arrived African refugee patients under the age of 15 in Melbourne in 2005, affecting 10% of those patients. To tackle these skin problems, As part of the initial physical examination, the skin should be inspected.
Management will be determined by the results, and differential diagnoses will be determined by the location of origin.


Strongyloidiasis: Strongyloides stercoralis, an intestine parasitic worm, is thought to infect at least 370 million individuals worldwide, while prevalence studies vary by country.129 Strongyloidiasis can show with no symptoms or as a potentially lethal hyperinfection or widespread infection. recommendation for this concern, All persons should be able to have blood tests for strongyloides serology.
If serology is positive or ambiguous:
Examine the FBE for eosinophilia and examine the feces for ova, cysts, and parasites.

Serology should be repeated 6 and 12 months after treatment.
