Letter To My College Roomate

Hello, my name is Kennedy Withers and I am your new college roommate! Wow, I can’t believe we made it to college, time to step into a new phase of adulthood, am I right? Anyway, I can’t wait to for the beginning on this journey with you. I’m sure we will share all kinds of stories during our first four years of college. Let’s take this time to get to know each other and our interests.
So, let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m a naturally quiet person and I don’t tend to speak a whole lot until I have something I really want to say. My friends back home are aware of this habit and I have mentioned to me that I am typically the one who keeps them all sane, because of my tranquil nature. I enjoy listening to people and observing their behavior because it tells me a little more about them without them trying to tell me. This tends to be the same case with my character.
A close friend of mind is able to pick up clues of my behavior without me having to say anything, she would just sense it. For example, I could be in the middle of a stressful situation and I would not say anything because I don’t like confrontation. However, my body language begs to differ; my friend is able to pick up on these subtle signals and provide reassurance in a quiet manner. I appreciate her efforts in trying understand me on a deeper level, a level to where some of my friends are probably unaware of.
Anyway, that is enough about me, now I want to hear about you. What are your interests/hobbies? What high school did you come from? What do hope to achieve this college year? I hope we continue to get to know each other in throughout this college year, I know it will be worth it.

Compass Test: The Middle

For my compass test, I found out that I am a blend of all four directions. I am basically the middle of the compass. As part North, I tend to stay on top of my work and make sure it gets done early. As part West, I tend to make others think and teach in different concepts. I also won’t start a project until I am clear with all the details, otherwise it becomes a huge setback if I have done something wrong. As part East, I need to visualize how my final product will come out in the end, keeping the goal in mind. I also want to show others new concepts that some may not have considered before; it can become a teaching moment for all of us. Finally, as part South, I am an empath who wants to make sure everyone’s ideas are taken into account. I make sure the person themself feels cared for and the emotional side of work is heard. Throughout the process of working together, I make sure to build strong relationships between everyone in the group.

Haunted Garden

The stone pillars stood at the front of the road. Little did people know those pillars led up to a school, that treacherous place I very much regret. It closed down twenty years later for a reason not to many people are aware of. There have been rumors, the school could have gone bankrupt, the teachings were unusual which was frowned on upon by many of the parents, or those who have gone in have never come out. Or if they did escape, they never acted the same. Here I am, twenty years later, coming back to my childhood school’s resting place. Will I prove if the rumors are true, probably not, but it’s good to see how things have changed. The full moon was at it’s peak, and I was ready for that leap of faith I so much feared. The magnolia tree’s petals fluttered down as a strolled over towards the old grotto.

The lush, green grass faded to a beige color as the fall season announced itself. Looming shadows cast on the ground from the towering trees, I felt as if they could swallow me up at any given moment. I gulped and continued walking. As I approached the grotto, I noticed something that was… very unusual. The light bulbs were glowing an emerald color. That was impossible, the school has been abandoned for twenty years now. I hesitated, taking in all my surroundings while slowly climbing the stairs. I stood in the middle of the grotto; a ritual of bushes lay in front of me. Around the outside of the grotto sat blooming hydrangeas, lavender flower, rosy flowers, mulch, and a sewer. I looked up from the ground only to notice a marble statue of a woman and her son, staring back at me. I gasped, the statues didn’t flinch. I sighed, pressing a hand to my forehead. “God, I’m so pathetic. It’s just a statue, they’re inanimate.” I walked over to the upper right side of the suspicious garden and climbed up onto the wall. Their was a tree with maroon leaves, a juice box sat among the branches. I tensed, “Someone else was here…” A child’s giggle sounded from right behind me. “And no one will ever know.” A new voice spoke. Before I could react, a bludgeoning blow was sent to the side of my head. I just remember lying on the concrete ground, blood dripping from the open wound, and the voices.

“Mother, how many human souls do we need for our ritual?”

“One more, this fool was about to find out the truth. Once we rise again, no one will be able to turn their backs on us again.”

Then it all went silent.
