1. Look at the first word in the Word Chains COMMENT below.

2. Think of a way to change the word by adding a prefix, suffix, or changing the root/base. Use the prefixes and suffixes that are on the padlet or we have previously learned. You can use any root/base word.

3. ADD A COMMENT with your new word.

4. WRITE ONE SENTENCE using your new word.

5. EXPLAIN how the meaning of the word changed from the previous word.

6. REMEMBER TO ADD YOUR NAME TO YOUR POST!

7. Read your classmates’ replies and see how their word chains grow!

Example:

• Starting word: play

• comment: player → “A soccer player scored a goal.” (Added -er to show a person who plays.)

• Next comment: replay → “We can replay the video to watch it again.” (Added re- to show doing it again.)

• Next comment: reuse - I can reuse this bag tomorrow for my lunch. (changed root to use from play)

• Next comment: reused - The glass jars were reused for storing strawberry jam. [added -ed to show past tense]
