Thomas was lifted by a weather balloon, and Ron used a taped up orange box with a camera and a GPS-equipped phone to record the event.  The train traveled up to see the earth’s curvature and then came falling back down, landing 45 kilometres from where it was launched.

Their name "Clanger" is from the sound made by opening the metal cover of their' crater-like burrows, each of which was covered with an old metal dustbin lid, to protect against meteorites and space junk.
